Central America onboard Seabourn Ovation (March 2022)

There is no interior cabin or even cabin with a porthole. The first level offered matches to what other companies call mini-suites or outright suites. The “veranda” cabins are almost 30 m2. The amount of space to store your belongings is impressive. There is a real table, a sofa…

As often in this type of cabin, it is possible to draw a curtain to separate the bedroom from the living room. And this curtain is thick enough to totally cut out the light from outside.

Right next to the bedroom, there is a walk-in closet, with the famous safe, drawers, and a wardrobe capable of accommodating a hell of a dressing room!

The piece of furniture in which the fridge is located is modular and its doors can be either closed or retracted on the side. There are several types of glasses to adapt with what is in stock. There are by default sodas, beer and champagne. Everyone is free to ask for anything else, room service will discreetly update the desired drinks.

The bathroom is quite substantial. Bath, double sink, shower… everything is in marble. In the American style, the toilets are not separated…

I liked the 2 floor mats, warm and very pleasant when you get out of the shower or a bath. The products provided (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, various care creams) are of good quality and in large quantities.

The lighting is also well thought out, especially the “night” version.

The balcony is a good size, with 2 longing chairs and a proper table. The ship is not very old but you can already see the damage caused by the sea in quite a few places.

We regularly find small attentions left in our cabin. Bottle of champagne, canapés, chocolates, goodies, rose petals on the bed… but the most remarkable thing is the incredible room service. Always taking care and looking for what could make us happy, we were treated by real “moms”-like. They took care of us like we were spoiled children. Incredible.

A comment also about the television set. Most companies do everything they can to block all the parameters of their TV, in particular preventing the use of the HDMI ports and therefore the viewing of any external source. Here, this is not the case. The remote control makes it easy to change the source. Convenient when you want to share multimedia content or streaming, from a laptop for example. For the experience, I was able to use my Apple TV as if I were at home! Combined with internet access allowing streaming and VPN, it was possible to watch an HD movie without difficulty, and without any interruption or degradation of the signal. Stunning, and rather rare on board a ship at sea!

Thanks to discussions with other passengers (thank you Pam!), we found out that we could ask to be served (free of charge) caviar and champagne in the cabin… just by a phone call! In less than 10 minutes, here is the table set up. A good start to the evening. We would have gotten used to it…

On the other hand, we tried to get cabin service for one of the dinner meals on the menu of one of the restaurants, but we learned that it was not possible (other cruise companies, less luxurious, do it easily). What is on the cabin service menu is much more classic, but very good.
